How to Sync a Tresco FREEDiM Dimmer to a Universal Receiver

This wireless dimming setup from Tresco Lighting is ideal for those looking for a quick way to integrate a dimmer within their LED lighting. It uses a 12V DC power supply, a wireless dimmer, a receiver and Tresco low voltage LED light fixtures to achieve the results.

In this article we’ll take a look at the two batteries within both the Round and Deco wall dimmers, sync one with a receiver, and control/dim the lights.

Removing the Clear Plastic Tab

Each FREEDiM wireless dimmer has a small battery compartment. The batteries will need to be activated in order to sync with the receiver.

To do this, remove the clear plastic tab within the battery case. Both the Round Dimmer and the Deco Wall Dimmer have unique 3V batteries. The Round dimmer has a CR2025 and the Deco Wall Dimmer has a CR1625.

Once this is done, you are ready to pair the wireless dimmer with a receiver.

Using the Learning Key on the Receiver

After the clear plastic tab has been removed and with the power supply plugged in, press once (do not hold down) on the receivers black Learning Key, then press once on the Dimmer button. The lights should flash on/off, indicating they are paired up and programmed properly. *Each Receiver can be controlled by up to 8 different Dimmers.

How to Deprogram a Receiver: Hold down the receivers black Learning Key until the lights connected to the receiver flash on/off twice. The receiver is now reset and is no longer programmed to any dimmers.

Controlling the Light Fixtures

To increase and dim the light(s) on the Round Dimmer, press and hold the on/power button.

To increase and dim the light(s) on the Deco Wall Dimmer, press and hold the “up” button to increase and press and hold the “down” button to dim. *A single Dimmer can control up to 10 Receivers.

In this helpful video you will get an overview of how the system works and the components needed for a successful outcome.
